Kildare is one of the best places in Ireland for a shopping weekend. Kildare Village, Ireland's leading designer outlet, is less than a 10-minute walk from The Silken Thomas, and Newbridge Silverware, with its showrooms and Museum of Style Icons, is around a 10-minute drive away. Here's how to fit both into one relaxed weekend.
Day one: Kildare Village
Walk from Market Square to Kildare Village and spend the day browsing more than 100 boutiques from Irish and international designer brands, with cafés and restaurants to break things up. Go early to beat the crowds, and drop your bags back to your room between rounds. For more tips, see our Kildare Village shopping guide.
Day two: Newbridge Silverware and Whitewater
After breakfast, head to Newbridge Silverware, around 10 minutes away. As well as beautiful tableware, jewellery and gifts, its visitor centre is home to the Museum of Style Icons, a collection of fashion and memorabilia from famous names in film and music. Also in Newbridge, Whitewater Shopping Centre has a wide range of high-street stores under one roof.
Where to eat and unwind
Start each day with breakfast downstairs, and finish with dinner in our award-winning restaurant or a drink in our traditional Irish bar, all a short walk from the shops. Weekend evenings are busy, so book your table in advance.
Getting between the two
Newbridge is one stop from Kildare on the train, or a short taxi ride: ask our reception team to book one, or use the FREE NOW app. If you're driving, both Kildare Town and Newbridge are just off the M7.
Opening hours change through the year, so check the Kildare Village and Newbridge Silverware websites before you travel.
