Kildare Village is one of the main reasons visitors come to Kildare Town, and it's easy to see why. More than 100 boutiques from Irish and international designer brands line its open-air streets, with cafés and restaurants to break up the day. The Silken Thomas is less than a 10-minute walk away, which makes it the natural place to stay if you want to turn a shopping trip into a relaxed weekend.
Getting there from The Silken Thomas
Leave the car with us and walk: Kildare Village is less than 10 minutes on foot from Market Square. Arriving by train? Kildare station is just minutes from both the town centre and the village, with frequent services from Dublin. Driving from Dublin, Cork or Limerick, we're just off Junction 13 of the M7.
Tips for a great day of shopping
Go early. Weekends and bank holidays are the busiest times, so mornings are the most relaxed time to shop.
Plan your must-visit stores. With so many boutiques, it helps to look through the brand directory on the Kildare Village website before you go.
Visiting from outside the EU? Ask in store about tax-free shopping before you pay.
Travel light. When you stay with us, you can drop your bags back to your room and head out again.
Where to eat and unwind
After a day on your feet, there's nothing better than a short stroll back to Market Square. Settle into our traditional Irish bar or book a table in our award-winning restaurant, serving everything from lunch to a relaxed evening meal. Planning a girls' weekend or a birthday trip? Our twin and triple rooms are perfect for friends sharing.
Make a weekend of it
Kildare has plenty more to offer beyond the shops. Spend a morning at the Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens, climb the round tower at St Brigid's Cathedral, or catch a race day at the Curragh. See our things to do in Kildare Town and our two-day weekend itinerary for ideas.
Opening hours and events at Kildare Village change through the year, so check the Kildare Village website before you travel.
